So Fine is the first single from Sean Paul’s new album, Imperial Blaze. Imperial Blaze, Sean Paul’s 4th dancehall album, is scheduled for release on August 18th. Hype is growing after Sean Paul’s free blowout concert in New York’s Central Park.

Originally planned for a 2007 release as The Next Thing, Imperial Blaze was subject to several delays as Sean Paul created 60 tracks for the album, cutting the list down to the final 19. Many top dancehall producers handled tracks on Sean Paul’s Imperial Blaze but the biggest presence is Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor, son of Freddy McGregor.

The first song released from the Imperial Blaze album was Press It Up, released on July 10 on the official Sean Paul Website. Neither it nor Watch Dem Roll, which Sean Paul released in 2007 are the official first single though. McGregor produced So Fine as well as 9 other tracks on the 19-track album. So Fine peaked at #59 on the US Billboard Hot 100, but it hit #14 on Turkey’s Top 20 charts.

So Fine is a fine first single from Imperial Blaze: it features a catchy hook and the signature bass-heavy synth melodies that are making Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor the most popular dancehall music producer of 2009. More hiphop and grime than reggae, Sean Paul’s signature speed and accented lyrics give this track a hit feel, though it’s heavy tone may not make it as popular as Sean Kingston’s Fire Burning on the Dance Floor.
