Although Mountain Jam is more widely known as a jam band event, there will be some reggae stars shining in the Catskill Mountains air on the evenings of June 4-6! The Mountain Jam 6 lineup includes performances by

• Reggae rocker Michael Franti & Spearhead
• Reggae legends Toots and the Maytals
• Reggae hip hop Hasid Matisyahu

Tickets went on sale at 10am EST today at the Mountain Jam website. The site promises early bird specials, but I don’t expect them to sell out too soon – past Mountain Jams have attracted more than 10,000 people.

The event headliners also include blues and rock improvisational group Gov’t Mule; Derek Trucks of the Allman Brothers Band and his wife, blues guitarist Susan Tedeschi; Les Claypool; The Avett Brothers; Yonder Mountain String Band; Dark Star Orchestra; and Dave Mason. Many other bands have also signed on to perform on June 4-6 on Hunter Mountain in the heart of the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York, with more acts to be announced.

Mountain Jam is staged by WDST (100.1 FM) in Woodstock and Warren Haynes, guitarist for Gov’t Mule and the Allman Brothers Band. WDST can also be heard on 106.5 FM out of Beacon. This year marks the station’s 30th anniversary.
