DubFest 2009 is breaking in Hollywood, Florida on September 5, 2009. The 1-day reggae and dub music festival includes a strong lineup including Bunny Wailer in his only US appearance this year and Lee “Scratch” Perry as well as several American acts.
DubFest 2009, produced by AEG Live, has big plans to blow up the American festival scene with a massive lineup of dub, reggae, ska, and alternative musicians and bands. “The one day music and arts event marks a celebration of the beach and ocean culture that South Florida has been waiting for,” said Jesse Stoll from AEG Live. The event also features 5 “interactive lands,” one of which is the main stage. The other DubFest areas include:
- The Grove, which includes the 2nd performance stage, green exhibitors, and environmental groups.
- The Meadow, which includes skate demos and the Official Dub VIP tent.
- The Plaza, where food, drink, art, and other vendors will sell their wares.
- Serenity, which includes water fountains and play sites.
“Over 12 diverse reggae, ska and alternative artists on 2 stages, a creative village of unique vendors and green organizations and eye-catching skate demonstrations with special athlete appearances – All for 35 bucks!,” Stoll explains. “We are offering an extremely reasonable and affordable day full of excitement and a chance to check out your favorite bands in the beautiful South Florida setting.”

DubFest 2009 lineup
The full DubFest lineup is a nice showing for a new 1-day dub show. Classic reggae fans take note: DubFest is being headlined by Bunny Wailer in his only confirmed 2009 US appearance. Bunny Wailer is a legendary member of the original Wailers, which he started with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh. True dub heads will be more excited to see Lee “Scratch” Perry perform live – Perry stands alongside King Tubby in the history of dub music as one of it’s creators. The lineup is filled out with contemporary American ska and alternative bands including Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger, Badfish (A Tribute to Sublime) and Authority Zero.
The complete lineup of confirmed dub and reggae acts includes:
- Bunny Wailer
- Lee “Scratch” Perry

- Authority Zero
- Scotty Don’t
- Ballyhoo!
- SOJA

Dear Dubfest,
I suggest you research and put some information on your website about all parking options for the day of your event. Have you contacted the City of Hollywood for their input on this subject? Have you ever been to an event at Young Circle before?
Thanks, John Shave
Hey John, thanks for the alert.
There is parking information on the official DubFest 2009 website – it’s a Flash website so I can’t link directly, but you can find it if you go to http://www.floridadubfest.com website and click on the Travel Info link. On that page you’ll see a link to download a PDF of parking information. The PDF is actually coming from http://www.artsparkatyoungcircle.org/, and you can find it here:

Hope that helps!
To clarify, DubAndReggae.com isn’t associated with DubFest or AEG, we’re just spreading the word.
