Buju Banton still waiting for drug trial verdict

After earlier false reports that he had been acquitted, Jamaican reggae and dancehall singer Buju Banton is still waiting for a verdict on his drug trial.

Buju Banton drug arrest: dancehall reggae star buys cocaine from undercover cops

Jamaican dancehall reggae star Buju Banton has been arrested for attempting to purchase 5Kg of cocaine from an undercover officer in Florida. If found guilty, Banton faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Embarrassed Pepsi denounces Beenie Man’s gay bashing in Uganda

Dancehall star Beenie Man is again under fire for his anti-gay lyrics, this time from corporate sponsor PepsiCo. Contact Music is reporting that PepsiCo spokespeople are criticizing Beenie Man for performing an anti-gay song at a reggae concert in Uganda on Saturday, December 5th.

After losing sponsorship, Reggae Carifest goes on

It looks like Reggae Carifest is scheduled to go on as planned, in spite of losing it’s sponsorship from Power 105 (a Clear Channel station).
Power 105 removed it’s sponsorship in response to 2 artists homophobic lyrics. Buju Banton‘s “Boom Bye Bye” and Bounty Killer’s song “Another Level” both describe violently killing gay men. [...]
