The 2009 Jamaica Independence Reggae Indoor Jamboree will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 5pm in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The reggae music festival celebrates 47 years of Jamaican independence. The Jamaica Independence Reggae Jamboree is a vintage reggae music festival that seeks to celebrate the greatest reggae musicians of the past and today.
Confirmed acts for the Jamaica Independence Reggae Jamboree include:
- Gregory Isaacs
- John Holt
- Etana
- Frankie Paul
- General Degree
- Singing Melody
- Honorebel
- Tenor Blue
- Ras Baba
- Code Red Band
Because this is a vintage reggae show, the lineup skews more towards classic stars such as Gregory Isaacs and rocksteady icon John Holt, but Etana is a relative newcomer to the reggae music scene and she ought to bring some new vibes to the show. Special guest Teena is an open mic competition winner and TC & Bungie of Progressive Flex will bring new DJ sounds.
Past Jamaica Indepence Reggae Jamboree performers have included Beres Hammond, Ken Booth, Taurus Riley, The Skatalites, LUST, Annette Brissette, The Stylistics, Marcia Griffiths, Derrick Morgan, Leroy Sibbles, Big Youth, Johnny Clarke, and the Melodians.
